In February, Continental Properties embarked on a vibrant celebration of Black History Month dedicated to honoring the profound contributions of the Black community. Through a series of engaging and educational resources, Continental reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to building community through the Continental IDEA.

Our festivities kicked off with a blend of fun and interactive activities. Among these was a virtual quote wall, where team members shared their favorite quote, paying homage to the enduring voices that have shaped Black history. Additionally, we delved into a Resource Guide spotlighting Black inventors and scientists whose groundbreaking innovations left a mark on our world.

To further enrich our celebration, team members curated a dynamic music playlist spotlighting our favorite Black musicians and a resource shedding light on the impact of blood drives on the black community and avenues for donation.

As the month progressed, we culminated our celebration with a team member-led panel discussion. Moderated by Richard Dillahay, the panelists—Franchesca Harris, Kaitlyn Jacquett, and Akira Alston— discussed their personal career journeys, how inclusiveness and belongingness impacted their experiences, and provided collective wisdom about how to be an ally in the workplace.

“Moderating the Discussion Panel for Black History Month is a memory that will sit with me forever,” said Richard. “It was an honor partnering with the You Belong Here committee, getting to know each of our panelists' stories, and witnessing such amazing support and encouragement from my fellow team members. Having the opportunity to make a difference was amazing. I look forward to being a part of the continued progression of You Belong Here and Continental!”

We extend our gratitude to our You Belong Here Committee and Black History Month Planning Group for curating this memorable and educational experience. As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to uplifting and celebrating the Black community year-round.
