With the weather warming up as we move further south, we found ourselves peddling faster than we ever have before! This past Tuesday, we arrived to the good ol’ Bluegrass State and “Horse Capital of the World”, Lexington, Kentucky! We couldn’t help but stop by Keeneland to place a bet on Catch a Glimpse. Our bets payed off as later that evening - he won the G3 Herecomesthebride race!

With dollars in our pockets and spirits high, we headed over to see our good friends at Springs at Winchester Road. Knowing the area best, the team insisted on taking us to see the sights. Our first stop was to the little outskirt town of Paris, Kentucky to view the grave of Secretariat- 9th Triple Crown Winner. After that we headed back into Lexington and did a quick tour of the Mary Todd Lincoln House, family home of the future first lady and wife of the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln.

After our fill of culture, we were ready for some fun! Being the basketball fan that Jean is, she couldn’t wait to put her feet on the sacred University of Kentucky campus grounds; after all she had only been talking about it for 613 miles! Last year was a brutal year for the Wildcats as they were kicked out of the March Madness tournament in the Final Four by our own home state’s finest, the Wisconsin Badgers. It’s our prediction that this year will be different! The Wildcats have a 22-8 record and are ranked 2nd in the Southeastern Conference, so we think this may be their year!

In the midst of all the fun we were having, we got sidetracked and forgot… oh yeah, the bike! So we quickly shoved our blue and white spirit wear deep into our backpacks and hit the road to our second Springs community in Kentucky, Springs at Hurtsbourne in Louisville. First stop, the University of Louisville Bookstore to pick up our Cardinal gear - no way we'd wear Kentucky blue in this city!

This property recently began site work so we weren’t able to meet up with our leasing team, but we did run into the Construction Project Manager, Ron Issleb. After leaving the site, we made our way to the West Main District of downtown and over to Museum Row where we came face to face with the largest baseball bat I had ever seen; it is six-stories tall and 68,000 pounds to be exact! We had arrived at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, of course. Over 220,000 guests visit this 16,000 square foot exhibit a year, and we can definitely see why! It was a blast! We couldn’t stay long in Louisville as there are a lot of miles between here and our next destination, Chattanooga, Tennessee. See you in 331 miles Springs at Chattanooga!

Special thanks to guest bikers, Melissa Wilichowski and Amanda Wenninger for stepping in this week!
